Although you can teach yourself how to play drums, a better way to learn is with a qualified drum teacher. As painful as it might be to get criticized from time to time, a drum teacher can show you the right (and wrong) ways to stand (or sit), hold your sticks, breathe, and hit the drums. While an instruction book can show you what to do, a teacher can demonstrate how to do it.

Besides being a Pantages theater Psychic Stargazer Wise One Manager and oh by the way everybody from the Pharaoh on down knows he is Maximus Incorruptibilus. He becomes a “pharaoh”, establishes the Children of Israel and they bring Jacob’s bones to Egypt. A nice place to live for 400 years, until some other guy named Moses is saved by the Midianites; and history unfolds some more. Not a bad tale. Nothing like having the entire future on his back. Good thing he was just trying to stay alive, live up to his dreams and have integrity. Good thing.

To New York to Occupy Wall Street: Are you a middle-aged and relatively responsible old hippie who never got a chance to really protest because you missed the Viet Nam protests by a few years? Well, now’s your chance to write your own message on a picket sign, throw it in the back of your vehicle and head east. Sure, lots of those protesters are younger than you but they’ll appreciate your matronly support. Be prepared to camp out, be interviewed by NPR and wait in line for bathrooms. One national public radio report recently mentioned that the highest incidence of injuries occurred during musical festivities – in the form of a siege of banjo blisters.

The musical makes several references to events that transpired in the film. Sometimes the musical extrapolates while other times it adds back story. Sometimes the references are germane to the plot while other times the references are strictly for comedic purposes. Spotting them only adds to the show’s enjoyment.
